History of boodi laddu

I can't consider one unique event in India at which this laddoo is not on the menu! It gets its extremely adorable name from the Hindi word for drops or beads - Boond. Another name for it is Motichoor Laddoo (Moti implies globule or pearl in Hindi). Perused the formula & you'll see why! Once you're through perusing, make some Boondi Ke Laddoo, you WILL NOT think twice about it!

In the Sesame Street scene "Rakhi Road", laddus are included unmistakably as a favored Indian sweet. Elmo is demonstrated making laddus & getting a charge out of eating them as a major aspect of the festivals around the Indian celebration of Rakhi.

A laddu weighing 6,300 kg was made for a Ganesh celebration in Andhra Pradesh, India in September 2012. This was asserted to be the biggest known laddu.

In the film English Vinglish, the hero Shashi Godbole (Sridevi) is a housewife who makes and offers laddoos as a grand slam business.
